What is a Favicon?A favicon
(short for favorites icon and pronounced fav-eye-kon)
is a 16x16 image. A favicon generally has an .ico
extension. .Gif extensions can also be used as a
favicon but is not recommended unless you have an
animated image. In most browsers, the favicon is
placed by the URL of a website in the address bar and
by the Site Name of the website in the
favorites/bookmarks. It is used alongside a logo to
help distinguish between websites.
